ACEPI, DECO and DNS.PT associated themselves in an unprecedented initiative by creating the Confio seal.
With the aim of promoting good e-commerce practices and the use of the internet, this novelty will guarantee the credibility of online stores and safety for consumers when shopping online.
The Confio seal thus replaces ACEPI’s online trust seal – the Trust ECommerce Europe – which ended in September 2017.
This action also involved the creation of an e-commerce code of conduct that is considered one of the most advanced in the world and introduces mandatory membership of an online dispute resolution center by participating and accredited entities.
Thus, the seal attributed to a particular website will appear visibly on its homepage with a link to the accreditation page.
The launch of the Confio seal still promises an improvement in the credibility of ecommerce and an increase in sales to the international market, and has caused Portuguese companies to respond with great interest and some are already displaying it.
To offer greater guarantees to consumers, leading consecutively to an increase in sales, there has been a reinforcement of requirements for ecommerce sites, namely when it comes to consumer protection, since it is now mandatory for companies to adhere to Consumer Arbitration mechanisms.
The request and granting of the Confio.pt seal is made online by filling out a form that contains all the necessary requirements for its attribution. It contains the Code of Conduct that goes through several stages from privacy, data protection, protection of minors, payments and orders, complaint management, security, arbitration, among others.
If you are interested in acquiring this seal for your ecommerce site and you are already accredited by Acepi (Associação da Economia Digital) you will have a little less bureaucracy ahead of you. All companies previously accredited by this organization will see the audit process simplified for this new seal since many of the current requirements were already in place.
Entities that are accredited for the CONFIO seal will automatically be able to join the European Digital Seal of the responsibility of Ecommerce Europe.
You can analyze the regulations of the Confio seal by visiting the site before deciding to join, but it is a guarantee that may be worthwhile, particularly in reducing cart abandonment at the time of purchase.
