As the number of e-commerce websites in Portugal has grown, so the number of people shopping online iWith a greater offer of ecommerce sites in Portugal, the number of people who choose to buy online, instead of going to the store, also increases.
Whether to buy a book, a trip, clothing or technology, more and more consumers prefer to do their shopping in the comfort of their own home or anywhere else, any time of the day.
In addition to there being greater choice options now, there is also an improvement in the quality of services provided to the customer. According to Observador Cetelem eCommerce 2018, 96% of consumers who made online purchases in the last 12 months considered the experience to be good or very good (72% and 24% respectively). Only 4% admit that their purchase did not go well.
Convenience and the ability to shop at any time and place are precisely the main positive aspects that 68% of respondents consider to exist. Immediately after, are the minority of time wasted with travel (59% of the replies) and with possible queues in stores (55%).
Although less representative, there are more advantages in this study by Observador Cetelem eCommerce 2018 study, which was based on a representative sample of 600 individuals residing in mainland Portugal, of both sexes and aged between 18 and 65 years. For example, 21% of Portuguese respondents give importance to the fact that they can buy products online that are not available in Portugal.
Interviewees were contacted by phone and the information was collected through of a survey of closed-ended questions.
